Uniform Kids Presidential Fitness Challenge

Uniform Kids | A Uniform Families Foundation Program

Uniform Kids Presidential Fitness Challenge

In July 2025 the President brought back the Presidential Fitness Test. Uniform Families Foundation is bringing it to the kids of firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, medical professionals, and service members, run by the people they look up to most: the men and women in uniform.

Their parents pass a fitness test to wear the uniform. Now the kids get their turn.

What This Is

A Fitness Day Built for Uniform Kids

The Presidential Fitness Test was a tradition in American schools for decades. It was retired in 2012 and restored by executive order on July 31, 2025, along with the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition and the Presidential Fitness Award.

The Uniform Kids Presidential Fitness Challenge is a community fitness day where the children of uniform families take on the classic test events side by side with firefighters, paramedics, officers, medics, and service members who run the stations, cheer them on, and hand out the awards. Every child who participates earns a Uniform Kids Fitness Challenge award. When the official Presidential Fitness Award criteria are published, our events will follow them so Uniform Kids can earn the real thing.

The Events

Five Classic Stations

The events most Americans remember from the original test. Each station is run by a uniformed volunteer. Kids of every age and ability participate, and every kid finishes.

1

One Mile Run

Or a walk. Every finisher counts.

2

Push Ups or Pull Ups

Child's choice, uniform's encouragement.

3

Sit Ups

One minute, counted by a firefighter.

4

Shuttle Run

Timed by an officer with a stopwatch.

5

Sit and Reach

Flexibility, measured by a medic.

How It Works

Three Steps to Host a Challenge

1

A Department or School Requests It

A fire station, sheriff's station, hospital, base, school, or union asks to host. Uniform Families Foundation brings the plan, the stations, and the awards.

2

Uniforms Run the Stations

Firefighters, paramedics, officers, medics, and service members volunteer as station leads. The kids see their parents' world up close and on their side.

3

Every Kid Gets an Award

Participation awards for all, and top performers recognized in front of the uniforms who cheered them on. Photos go home with every family.

Who Can Host

Bring the Challenge to Your Community

Fire Stations and Departments

Nurses and medics run the stations and talk about healthy bodies.

Bases, Armories, and Veterans Groups

Service members and veterans lead the kids through the course.

Schools and PTAs

Pair with your PE program and invite the local uniforms in.
