The Night Shift Fund
Medical Wives | A Uniform Families Foundation Fund
The Night Shift Fund
When one parent works nights, the house runs upside down. Somebody sleeps all day. Somebody else does everything else. The Night Shift Fund pays for the things that fall apart in a medical household running on nights: the house that does not get cleaned, the dinner that does not get cooked, the yard nobody has touched since spring.
One parent sleeps all day. Everything else falls on the other one.
Nights
What a Night Shift Household Looks Like
The Day Sleeper
A nurse or tech home from a night shift needs a dark, quiet house by 8 a.m. The spouse and the kids have to make that happen while living in it.
The Everything Else
Dinner, homework, laundry, the yard, the dog, the appointments. All of it on the spouse, in silence.
The Weekends
Three twelves in a row means the weekend is Tuesday, and the rest of the family is at school and work.
The Burnout at Home
The medical worker gets the burnout studies. The spouse running the house around it gets nothing.
What the Fund Does
Taking Something Off Her Plate
A House Cleaning
A professional cleaning so the day sleeper wakes to a clean house nobody in the family had to make.
Meals Delivered
A week of dinners delivered, so the spouse holding the day shift at home does not also cook it.
The Yard
A lawn service, one month, for the yard that has not been touched since the last stretch of nights.
The Errand That Never Gets Run
A grocery delivery, a dry cleaning pickup, the car wash. Small things that pile up.
Nominated by Someone Who Sees Her
Nurses, techs, coworkers, and kids nominate the spouse who keeps the house quiet and running.
Connected to Scrubs
Works alongside the Scrubs Fund for the lowest paid medical families.

Why We Built This
Because Someone Runs the House While the Nurse Sleeps
Uniform Families Foundation serves the whole medical household, not just the one in scrubs. The Night Shift Fund is for the spouse who keeps the house dark at 8 a.m., the kids quiet at noon, and dinner on the table by the time the alarm goes off for another night.
Uniform Families Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Assistance is subject to available funds and eligibility review. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
