First responder and military families give so much to their communities, and back to school season can stretch any household thin, especially when overtime pay is unpredictable and one parent is deployed or working around the clock during fire season.
Every year, our Backpack & School Supply Drive fills brand new backpacks with grade appropriate supplies and delivers them to Uniform Kids across the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond, so the first day of school starts with confidence, not worry.
What Goes in Every Backpack
Packed by grade level, from kindergarten through high school.
The Backpack Itself
Brand new, durable, and picked with kids in mind. No hand me downs, no leftovers. Every child gets a bag they are proud to carry.
Grade Level Supplies
Notebooks, pencils, crayons or pens, folders, glue, scissors, highlighters, and calculators for older students, matched to local school supply lists.
A Note of Honor
Every backpack includes a card thanking the child for the sacrifice their family makes, because Uniform Kids serve too.
How the Drive Works
Registration Opens
Uniform families sign up their kids through our contact form with grade level and school. Registration is free and private.
Donations & Packing
Donors and volunteers help us purchase supplies and pack backpacks by grade level at our community packing event.
Distribution Day
Families pick up backpacks at our distribution event, or we deliver directly to households where a parent is deployed or on extended assignment.
