Julie Holt
Julie Holt is the founder and president of Uniform Families Foundation, and before any title, she is a fire wife and a mother. She leads the vision, mission, and strategic growth of the organization, building national support networks, partnerships, and resources that strengthen the families behind every uniform.
A mission born from experience.
Julie Holt's connection to the mission behind the Uniform Families Foundation did not begin as an idea or a professional opportunity. It began through her own life and the experiences her family has lived.
For more than two decades, Julie has been part of a uniform family. Her husband serves with the Los Angeles Fire Department as an EMS Captain, dedicating his career to protecting one of the largest cities in the country. Being married to someone in the fire service means living a reality that many families understand but few outside the community truly see. The long shifts. The missed holidays. The shift calendars taped to the refrigerator. The uncertainty that comes every time the station tones drop. The pride and the worry sharing the same heartbeat.
She has not studied the life behind the uniform. She has lived it. And over the years, one truth became unmistakable: when someone chooses a life of service, their entire family becomes part of that journey. The strength of the person wearing the uniform is supported by the strength of the family behind them.
Some of the most defining moments in Julie's life came during extraordinarily difficult seasons for her family: navigating loss, the birth of a micro preemie, a high risk pregnancy, and the emotional weight of holding everything together while her husband continued to serve the city.
It was during those seasons that something became clear. Families connected to public service often face life's most difficult moments quietly and privately. The person in uniform continues to serve the community, but the family at home is holding everything together without a support system that truly understands what they are going through.
That realization grew into a vision. And that vision became the Uniform Families Foundation.
Experience meets discipline.
Julie's perspective is shaped not only by lived experience, but by professional discipline. Before founding Uniform Families Foundation, she built a career in broadcast media as a television journalist and radio personality. Years of telling other people's stories taught her how to listen, how to communicate with clarity, and how to build platforms that reach people where they are.
Now she uses every one of those skills to tell the story of the families the world rarely sees, and to make sure they are finally heard. She also understands how service careers evolve, how leadership responsibilities grow, and how every promotion places new weight on the entire household, because her own household has carried it.
Leadership with perspective.
Uniform Families Foundation was not created as a trend. It was built as a lasting institution designed for long term impact, credibility, and national reach.
Julie leads with a simple conviction: service families need more than recognition. They need infrastructure. Community. Visibility. Representation. A place that was built for them on purpose. Under her direction, the foundation continues to grow as a national home bringing together support programs, resources, storytelling, and partnerships created specifically for uniform households across fire, law enforcement, paramedic and EMS, military, medical and frontline service, and the kids growing up in all of them.
A vision for the future.
Julie's goal is to build something that outlasts any single season: an institution that strengthens connections between families, supports every stage of a service career, and lifts up the people who stand behind those who serve.
She believes service is never carried by one individual alone. It is sustained by families who adapt, endure, and lead quietly from home. Uniform Families Foundation exists so those families are never overlooked again.
And for Julie, this is not a venture. It is a promise, made from one service family to all the others.
Behind every uniform is a family. And those families deserve to be seen, supported, and never forgotten.
