Emergency Hardship Grants
When the family that answers everyone else's emergency has one of their own, we answer. Direct financial assistance for uniform families facing injury, illness, or a line of duty crisis.

An injury on the job. A cancer diagnosis. A line of duty death. When crisis hits a uniform household, the paycheck can stop but the mortgage does not. Uniform families are the last to ask for help and the first to deserve it.
Emergency Hardship Grants provide one time direct assistance for essential living expenses, paid quickly and quietly, so a family in crisis can focus on healing instead of the stack of bills on the counter.
What Grants Cover
Essential living expenses, paid directly to the provider whenever possible.
Housing
Rent or mortgage assistance to keep a family in their home during a crisis month.
Utilities
Electricity, gas, and water bills, because no family in crisis should sit in the dark.
Groceries
Food assistance so the table stays full while the family gets back on its feet.
Qualifying Circumstances
Grants are available to spouses and immediate families of active duty personnel across all six UFF pillars when the household is impacted by:
- A line of duty injury or illness that interrupts household income
- A serious medical diagnosis affecting the service member or an immediate family member
- A line of duty death, with priority processing for surviving families
- A crisis directly connected to the demands of service, reviewed case by case
How to Apply
A simple, private process. Most decisions are made within days, not weeks.
Submit a Request
Contact us through the site contact form with your service branch, a brief description of the hardship, and the expense you need help with.
A Brief Review
A UFF team member follows up confidentially to verify service affiliation and gather simple documentation, such as a bill or notice.
Direct Payment
Approved grants are paid directly to the landlord, utility, or grocery provider whenever possible, so relief arrives without red tape.

Every request is handled with complete confidentiality and deep respect. Asking for help is not weakness. It is what community is for. Grants are one time awards based on need and available funding, and no family is ever required to share their story publicly.
