We Believe In Transparency

Your trust means everything to us. Below you'll find answers to the most common questions about how the Uniform Families Foundation operates, how your donations are used, and how families can access support.

Donations & Giving

How are my donations used?

Your donation is used only for the specific service category you designate at the time of giving. When you choose to support Fire Families, Law Enforcement, Paramedic, Military, Medical, or Uniform Kids — 100% of your designated gift goes directly to that branch's programs and services. If you make a general or undesignated donation, those funds are directed to whichever branch program has the greatest need at the time.

Can I choose which branch my donation supports?

Absolutely. During the donation process, you can designate your gift to one of our six service branches: Fire, Law Enforcement, Paramedic, Military, Medical, or Uniform Kids. Your donation will be used exclusively for the branch you select. We believe you should have full control over where your generosity makes an impact.

What happens if I don't designate a specific branch?

General or undesignated donations are directed to whichever branch program has the greatest need at the time. This allows UFF to respond to urgent situations and ensure no family in need is left behind — regardless of the uniform their loved one wears.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Uniform Families Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You will receive a donation receipt for your records.

Can I set up a recurring donation?

Yes! Monthly recurring donations are one of the most impactful ways to support our families. Consistent giving allows us to plan programs, sustain ongoing support, and be ready to respond when families need us most. You can set up and manage recurring gifts through our website's donation portal.

Are there other ways to give besides monetary donations?

Absolutely. In addition to financial contributions, we welcome:
  • Corporate sponsorships and partnership programs
  • In-kind donations such as gift cards, supplies, and event resources
  • Planned giving through wills, trusts, and estate designations
  • Fundraising events organized by community supporters

Eligibility & Applying for Help

Who is eligible to receive help from UFF?

UFF serves the families of those who wear a uniform in service to others. This includes families of firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics/EMTs, active-duty military and veterans, medical professionals, and their children through our Uniform Kids program. Eligibility is determined based on need and connection to uniformed service.

How do I apply for assistance?

You can apply for assistance by visiting our website and completing an application through our secure online portal. A member of our team will review your submission and follow up within a timely manner. All applications are handled with the utmost confidentiality and respect.

Can I apply on behalf of someone else?

Yes. A family member, colleague, department chief, commanding officer, or community member can submit a referral or nomination on behalf of a family in need. We encourage anyone who sees a uniformed family struggling to reach out — sometimes those who need help the most have the hardest time asking for it.

What types of assistance does UFF provide?

UFF provides a wide range of support tailored to the unique challenges uniformed families face. This can include financial assistance, family wellness resources, children's programs, emergency support, community events, and connection to partner organizations. The specific support available may vary by branch and need.

Is there a cost to receive services from UFF?

No. All services and assistance provided by the Uniform Families Foundation are completely free to eligible families. We exist to serve, not to charge. Our programs are funded entirely through the generous donations of individuals, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
